ROOM 4 Belvoir Blog
Welcome to our Blog.
Here you will find lots of pictures of room 4 & 5 participating in Duke of Edinburgh Activities. In addition to this you will find links to educational resources and 15 Mile Creek.
I thought I would put this clip in after our staff had an Ultranet session, it just demonstrates the need to adapt to new technology and the way our kids learn.
That's really interesting Doug, and so true. The school I've been working in here in London has recently introduced something called 'Fronter'. Its a sort of Facebook run by councils in Greater London and if I can find the video explaining it, I will. Basically, each class/year has its own front page where teachers upload homework and extra bits and pieces about what they've been teaching in class, and there are forums for the students to discuss. The kids can start their own forums too, and discuss what they find hard, what they find easy, and help each other with things. I remember one post from someone finding a literacy test hard, and a girl responded with something along the lines of 'start small by improving your spelling'. It was written much nicer than that but you get the picture. There's also a chat thing they can use, and its all monitored by teachers and no one from outside the school can see any of it. The kids' feedback about it has been all positive, most of them racing for Fronter at any opportunity. I'm not sure if there's anything like that in Oz at the moment, but definitely worth researching!!
